i think we've lost sight of my original point which was "no rules just right" == awful awful. well, not awful awful. those are at the newport creamery and goddamnit i haven't had an awful awful in a decade. no, 15 years? christ. so i guess just it's awful. point is, gotta have some rules.

As a newbie, let me tell you a quick story about one of the forums I was involved with back in the BBS days. Anyone remember those? We had a great forum. Lots of conversation. Two lines into the computer at 2400 bps. Remember that? Any way the forum was very busy but we had an area called "The Inner Circle" where we basically had all of our discussion we didn't want the general forum to see. Then there was another area called "The Real Inner Circle" where we all knew each other and were involved in the BBS.
Why not have the VIP Lounge as a place for those that are willing to pony up? Those that are willing to pay get to come on in there. It doesn't need to be full of insulting, swearing and generally being jerks. It could just be where those that are willing to pay get to discuss things that they may not want to say in the open forum. Guess what, you don't pay, those users might just be talking about you. Run it like Vegas: What happens there, stays there.
