Government intervention isn't the solution to ever problem. What declaring them a utility will do is increase costs to the consumer in new government fees. There are far more ISP's than cable companies. The cable companies weren't the first and they certainly aren't the only options available. They are the best option for cost and speed but they aren't the only option. What will their motivation be to improve service? If they are a monopoly, they won't need to compete, right? Do you think we'd have the internet speeds that we currently have if they were regulated monopoly utilities?
Quit worshipping the freaking government. They are not the solution to everything in our lives. Face it, the government really doesn't run anything effectively or efficiently.
