Their coverage areas are pitiful but Netzero has some decent 4g data plans. The 1st year is 250mb per month for free..

I haven't looked into Netzero much because there's no coverage where I live, so there might be some fine print I'm missing.. But it would be nice if other companies get involved and offer some inexpensive plans with better coverage.

No, the FCC (and almost every other government agency) should not step in and artificially force the market to do things. I think many people seem to forget that this nebulous thing that we call "the market" is simply a euphamism for "what people want". If the American public wants broadband access, then they will pay for it. But, if they would rather spend money on something else, then why should the FCC step in and force companies to spend money on things that the public doesn't want to spend money on?

We've been down this road before.. Until there's serious competition we will never have inexpensive, good broadband.. Where I live, and most other places in the country too, the cable companies have been allowed to carve up the cities, the towns, the neighborhoods, which has stifled competition..

I live in a densely populated area of NY.. I have TWO choices for broadband.. TWO!! Verizon and Time Warner.. No ATT, no Optium, nothing.. Just the 2..

No competition..
