I was meaning gearhead the other way. I've only ever owned sportscars and touring sedans. My current car is a 500hp G8 that I've heavily modified. It has no catalytic converters and gets ~11mpg. It's full of dead cows on the inside. If I thought I could get more power by stuffing baby seals in the gas tank, I would.

But, if electric was viable, I'd get one.

I'm really looking at the Tesla Model S. I don't need much more than a 300 mile range anyway. With charging tech, a fillup could be a stop for lunch at a Cracker Barrel on a long road trip. And, it outperforms most gas cars. And looks awesome, to boot. The only sticking point is the $96k pricetag.

Reid can still lead filibusters. I'm not a huge fan of Obama's style but it's hardly "my way or the highway". He largely watered down his agenda repeatedly in the early years trying to get bipartisan support and never got anything but a slap in the face from the other side. Eventually you get sick of that shit.

Reid can lead filibusters but only if he can keep 6 democrats from voting with the republicans. The truth is, democrats have seen what happens to them in the polls during this gridlock government. I believe that these bills are going to hit the floor for a vote. It is looking like the Keystone XL bill has the 60 needed to move forward as there are several democrats siding with the republicans. One of the sponsors of the bill is a democrat.

True. To my larger point though, I think obama is totally willing to compromise. But compromise is "you give me something I want and I give you something you want" not "you give me some of what I want and I give you nothing"

You may have missed my point. Look dude I've been VERY critical of Obama in the past but on this issue of who is refusing to compromise, I think it's clearly the Republicans. Obama has taken to bashing them with the bully pulpit because they refuse to compromise with him in any way so sitting down to negotiate has become pointless.
