Guns are not illegal in france. AK-47s certainly are, but they are in gun-toting-wild-west-America, too

you need special permits for semi automatics with more than three bullets and whatnot in france. it is rather draconian this is true, but none of these laws would have prevented this stuff (which was your point, i believe). stricter customs could possibly stop illegal weapons from entering the country, but even though it is small by american standards france is still a large country, with lots of points of entry[/quote]
