Bernie Sanders is 73 years old. He would be 75 on his first inauguration day and 79 if he lived through that term. While he's an Independent, he's a liberal. He has no hope of getting the democrat nomination and even less hope of even getting on the ballot in all fifty states. A run by "this old white man" would be a waste of time and money. As I have said earlier, the democrats have worked to get people excited about younger, more charismatic candidates. The conservatives aren't going for that model.

Johnson was a master of working the legislative branch and getting them in line. Of course, he had been the Democratic leader in the senate which was great preparation. Problem now is that congressional leadership shuts the door on any future presidential run. Being the speaker/majority leader/minority leader makes you unelectable nationally due to the nature of modern American politics.
