selling to two groups you know are at odds with each other during peacetime doesn't make it that much better. i mean you know it's only a matter of time before they go at it. you're just preemptively making the war worse instead of making it worse while it's going on. much better to pick the better side, ensure a less costly war, and have an ally in the end.
