The U.S. never should have worked to destabilize the Ukraine and pull it out of Russia's sphere of influence. Russia can't back down when it is a country right on its doorstep and half populated by Russians. Imagine if Russia fomented a coup in Puerto Rico that was going to drag it into Russia's sphere of influence?

It is clear the U.S. doesn't show Russia a modicum of respect and Russia has to respond. The Orange Revolution was a gross provocation by the U.S.

we see a lot of potential for ukraine, which is why these measures are even being considered now unlike when russia did the same thing in georgia, who we truly don't care about. plus i think we're all overestimating what this aid means. we'll be sending them small arms, MANPADs, probably TOW missiles and things like that. i doubt we'll be giving them any serious equipment or having advisers or anything like that, plus russian news has already been reporting about american agents killing russian solders and other absurd things like that so it's not like the narrative is going to shift at all in russia.
