Holy shit no. I don't want an officer ever thinking it is acceptable to fire his service weapon at a non-lethal threat. Ever. Even if he puts silly putty on it. Who in their right mind would ever think this is a good idea as a product?

Of course you oppose it. It might make the police state slightly more exposed to risk, perhaps even exposing them to the same level of risk as your average citizen, whose day-to-day life is far more dangerous than a cop.

Besides, care to take a crack at how many unsolved and unprosecuted police murders there have been?

I think that it is a bad idea because if the criminals know that an officer will use non-lethal force, the police officer's handgun isn't as threatening or as much of a deterrent. Think about it from the perspective of a rogue. You don't want to go to prison, this LEO is pointing a weapon at you that you can clearly see has this non-lethal attachment on it. Any reason not to beat the cops butt, take the weapon and fire a real bullet into him or her?
