It's no surprise. Conservative states typically have more legal restrictions on alcohol consumption and production. Dry counties actually promote drunk driving accidents since people drive further to get their fix, but there's no place for logic where rhetoric is king.

Well, that's not really material to this. Pretty sure its all legal in every states. I'm thinking its mostly about climate. They drink a LOT of light beer in the south.

Not actually no. I'd say its around 55-65% correct numbers wise, possibly more if I bothered to actually add it all up.

The only real outliers are MT WY AK and ID...all with very few electoral votes.

Those 9 states with the lowest number of breweries amount to 101 electoral votes, which are also deep red reliable GOP votes. The basis around which the GOP has even the faintest prayer. The above outliers only amount to 13 votes. NY state is the irritating one...but on a per capita basis its easy to understand with a population so large. Makes WY and MT make sense as well, on that basis.
Even Hawaii is doing alright.

Basically, the strongest beer states that are also red states don't matter for much electorally, while the weakest beer states that are also red states count for a whole lot.
