the point is that this ridiculously pointless and ideologically biased experiment doesn't prove that humans in general should live in conditions of hardship or that poverty is good for them while folks having adequate economic means is bad somehow for society and will lead to social upheaval.
if anything it should show you that limited resources such as space cannot sustain open ended population growth. this is much more of a metaphor for a society that doesn't consider the inevitable consequences of its unhindered consumerism than it is for a supposed utopia
in a well provisioned and educated human society birth rates level off so socialism isn't going to lead to rat hell as the designers of this little passion play of an experiment would like us to believe. The opposite is true
