Yea no where near as fancy as the west. The clubs by Olympic stadium are genuine clubs, I got i. With jeans and sneakers but wear a collar etc. most people buy tables and don't speak English. Drinks are cheap. I basically got wasted at the bar in 30 min and ran around the club asking who is from California. Ended up meeting some cool Koreans who spoke english. These places are mega clubs though, multiple floors and rooms each with a DJ. I'll grab the name when I get back to the hotel.

Wadoiku is by some university and it's mostly students. I enjoy the vibe more, cheaper, younger, much more dive bar ish. Watch your phone and wallet but otherwise you can black out and hit on Chinese college girls and expats. No dress code obviously.

Sanluiten just don't try to buy drugs from the Africans and watch your drink because they will water them down or hookers will roofie you. Sounds worse than it is most places are decent and have a lot of westerners.

Metro closes at 11? 12? 1? So be prepared to fight for a cab back to your hotel.

Make sure you have a hotel card or map for your hotel (hotel websites usually have something to print), because the cabbies don't speak English and most are functional retards.

As you mentioned, the hotels in China are a really good deal. Best deal for the money of any country I've worked in (Moscow being the worst). They are even cheaper once you get out of the 1st-2nd tier cities. Gotten 5 star hotels for $120 in some of those cities. I get corporate rates that also knock those prices down.

You should totally pony up and stay at the Opposite House hotel in Sanlitun and live it up.

Is Hong Kong bearable in late May / early June? I'm reading a lot of sources saying it's absurdly humid and not tolerable but I REALLY REALLY want to do the damn bungee jump so I might just bite the bullet.

Am i crazy? Anybody been there that time of year?
