Wahhabism is not a warped version of Salafism. It's considered a derogatory term for the exact same concept. It implies that Salafism is from a foreign influence.

Also you are mistakenly conflating Jihadism with Wahhabism.

Jihadism is where the extremists are coming from not Wahhabism. Now, there a small number of Jihadists who are also Salafis but they are hardly the "source of extremism" (whatever that means). Nor are they funded by the Saudis, because they are actually at war the Saudis for collaborating with the West.

So unless there is some type of complicated conspiracy theory in play here I don't see how you are going to reconcile these facts to your narrative.
