But, I still think that the best use of a whiskey barrel is to store rum!

Whisky isnt for everyone, if you dont like it there's plenty of alternatives: vodka, rum, absinthe (I always have a bottle of this), gin, schnapps, tequila, brandy, etc.

Absinthe is a good cocktail ingredient, usually to be used strictly as a rinse. Consumed on its own it is vile.
