while the teams are only from america and a couple from canada, the talent is from the world over as the most money for sports players is in america. for non sport players, like soccer players, the biggest money is in europe

so they are world champions because they are better than teams from elsewhere, at least in professional athletes. sometimes other countries if they pool their athletes together and don't have to pay them (like in the olympics) can sometimes beat the united states but the united states has over three times as many medals as the next "competitors" in those games
