Netflix has something pretty good on its hands with Narcos, even if it is a little cliche heavy. Pablor Escobar has been an interesting character so far, definitely built in the Gus Fring model. I've yet to see a Netflix original that's close to the quality of the best HBO shit, though.
House of Cards get really f**k stupid in a hurry, and Narcos (while a good show) seems built on a lot of spent premises.
Maybe it goes more to the audience. HBO just seems to get really quality dramatic television in a way other mediums don't. The Sopranos, Deadwood, and The Wire are just a level of their own.
