Evening friends,

Tonight's discussion centers around the humble briefcase. Once a mainstay of any learned working man's life, the briefcase has been cast aside in favor of messenger bags, backpacks, manpurses, organic totes, and a litany of other abominations. It's time to get back to basics.

I was considering getting an attache case, and then i remembered exactly why they went out of style in the first place. Who wants to carry that shit the whole time? It's key that it can be carried in hand, but to do it the entire time is unnecessary and restricts you to one free hand.



Then you have the urban hipster bags. Your saddlebags and the like. These look ridiculous to me, you are an accounts manager not a rancher. Something something about they should last forever, but my life is interesting enough that I think I will forget about my bag once in the next decade.



How do you gentlemen carry shit while wearing a suit?

If you get the right color it looks fine in a work setting. I chopped of the cheesy rings at the bottom though.

I've owned many super cool bags over the years, but these days I've gone pretty utilitarian. I know, it's not sexy, but it's tough as hell and I can attach it to my suitcase which some of my older bags couldn't do. My older shoulder bags also weren't large enough for all the shit I have to carry. Not the best looking bag I've ever owned, but it is definitely the best bag I've owned based on its performance.

I'm not a fan of Tumis leather bags personally. If I'm going function over form then I'm going ballistic nylon.

If it weren't so small and useless, I always wanted to carry one of these. Preferably with a handcuff attached to my wrist..
