When they had blackouts on games that weren't sold out the local affiliate station or its parent company would just buy up all the unsold tickets cause the cost of that was way less than what they would make by having the game.

To add insult to injury, I just heard the Giants plane didn't leave Dallas until 4am this morning due to some delay. Was probably Coughlin coordinating the departure time with the control tower....
