i dunno maybe it's just my private sector experiences have been uniquely wasteful. we burn so much goddamn money I can't even fathom it sometimes. i did public defender shit and interned with the US senate and federal judiciary and they were tightwads IME. at the two private sector jobs i've had i've always had a complete blank check with everything. literally everything. just spend as much as we wanted and it'll work itself out.

Yeah I can say first-hand that anybody who thinks that private companies (more specifically, corporations) are marvels of efficiency... OMG.
My last one? Holy sh*t it it were a gov't it would be Somalia. The most insane, wasteful and idiotic practices ever--and these guys are HUGE.
I thank the good Jesus I work in a private company right now.
