That might have been the case occasionally but more often than not I think the Dems wouldn't refuse to do a deal that Obama signed off on. The other problem and this is where you can blame Boehner, is that he upheld the speakers policy that predated him: you can only run a bill that a majority of the majority party agrees to. He didn't have to do that but the probably would have ousted him pretty quickly if he didn't do it.

They're monolithic in their desire to thwart Obama and the libs at every turn even on something that makes sense. That's my point: this tea party madness isn't about simply differences in governing, it's about something bordering on nihilism while installing some sort of alien hybrid of plutocracy and theocracy.

These people should have been run out of town when they showed up in 2009; instead we invited the monster in, and here we are.

Lest you think this is all unsubtle cheering for Democrats--guess what? When the Democrats don't have to run on anything except "Well at least we're not them!" they don't have to do anything either. So we all lose in the end.

BTW besides the affair he obviously had which we'll find out about, I wonder if McCarthy unintentionally exposing the Benghazi farce doomed him--since that has been the GOP casus belli for years now and obviously the thing they bet on to keep Hillary out of the White House?
