Gun owners operate on the assumption that access to weapons is a right, Indy. This is delusional and exists nowhere else in the world but America, but it is what it is.
You have to be able to demonstrate a need to ban, rather than put the onus on them. I mean, let's be real: the people who own these guns don't have any real use for them, but again, they view it as an individual right, and so does the Supreme Court. Asking them why they need it just makes them go and buy more, because these are, at the base level, extremely irresponsible people who don't care about their communities and so have no problem with spending thousands on weapons. If a classroom full of toddlers gets mowed down by an assault rifle, that's just the cost of doing business.
