Its kind of refreshing to see someone doing something about Russia's constant and blatant disregard for foreign airspace. I know the Scandinavian countries are getting rather sick of it.
However, I think this was Turkey looking for any excuse to go after Russia since they back Assad. Probably not going to end well for them on this, especially if the pilots were shot dead.

Depends. If their airspace is violated by a Russian warplane...they don't actually have to wait for that plane to start shooting. Their RoA were amended to account for these sorts of incursions.

turkey shooting down a plane violating its airspace is purely defensive. if russia responds militarily that is an act of aggression.

Turkey has basically shot at anyone over their borders for quite some time, Russians shouldn't of been flying there.
Russians haven't exactly had the best record as of late with alot of their flybys and other tactics. Anyone heard if the pilot survived?
