i feel like the word tense is woefully inadequate
turkey is our ally in NATO, and their airspace was violated. i've seen radar tracking that clearly shows this happening.
turkey is wanting to defend syrians of turkish descent that live near the border, who are armed by americans, and are who are being fired upon by the russians as they are rebelling against assad. that's the real reason behind it, not that they would risk all of this over a few miles of airspace violation. this doesn't mean that russia was not in the wrong here, and this does not mean turkey did not have the right to do what they did (they claimed they warned the pilots of the two planes 10 times before downing 1 of them), but this is really about who the russian fighters were bombing in syria
russia is no ally and no real friend, either. they want to exert influence as a region superpower and that influence extends through the caucuses into the levenat which is why they are doing all of this in the first place. if russia continues their action, and continues to violate turkey airspace, and turkey responds again in a similar manner, we could see the outbreak of WWIII over this. not saying turkey is wrong, but... f**k christ.
"surprise! anti-missile shield wasn't about iran it was about russian missiles the entire time!" -america, probably, if this shit escalates

My life has become a single, ongoing revelation that I haven’t been cynical enough.
