To me, a racist is someone who is willing to blame everyone but themselves for their failure.

"race relations" as an abstract concept can be viewed differently by different people. But relations between police and the black community are much worse than they've been for a long time. Even if you want to argue that cops aren't getting any worse, the fact is that the black community feels more threatened by them than they have in many years. And more pissed about it. And that's not really because of a narrative the media is pushing, but because much more is caught on video these days, and those videos are distributed via social media very quickly.
