Something I don't see people hitting upon here is that abortions after 12 weeks are also illegal in Tennessee. She may not have even known she was pregnant until after the cut-off point.
Speculation, of course since we don't know all of the facts in this case, but needless to say 12 weeks is beyond ridiculous. There's no way for a 12 week fetus to live outside of the womb. 22-24 weeks is about the accepted time period for likely chance of the fetus surviving.
The more the conservative states pass insane laws like these, the more we are going to see cases like this pop up. Its sad that conservatives think they get to tell everyone how to live their lives and morally legislate others based purely on belief but, well, I guess every society has the crazies in it.
