I don't think Obama actually gives any shits about unsolvable problems. About any of it. This is legacy bullshit. The mass shootings are the thing that people are getting the most mileage out of. So that's where he went. Its feel-good.

And, there is f**k nothing dishonest about anything I posted. There is no hiding. There is no downplaying. That's all just what you've projected onto it because it doesn't serve your preferred narrative. The point I was making is that though it goes without saying its a larger problem in the US, its also an extant problem elsewhere. If I were trying to "hide" anything, I wouldn't have posted a table that listed off all of that data that was useless to my position, would I? Though, I maintain that the per capita basis is the only honest way to compare countries of different sizes. It doesn't "downplay", it seeks to level the playing field. There is no legitimate reason to compare absolute figures between countries so massively unequal in size. I thought it was perfectly reasonable.
