Yeah I usually just ignore anecdotal evidence and am probably gonna do the same here since it's, you know, anecdotal. Studies on the matter show that the USPS is extremely efficient (best public postal service in the world by some measures), and FedEx and UPS will often USPS because of this efficiency (true story - crazy right?).
And the US government does a lot of things right man. Big institutions always have built in problems, be they government or private.

Fedex and UPS do not use the USPS because of their efficiency. Its because the USPS will deliver to places UPS and Fedex won't or don't.
In my experience, the USPS sucks hard, continues to suck, and FOR ME, I do not want them taking over banks nor do I think its even anything close to a good idea. The government wants to open their own bank? Great. But I do not want to participate in it because IN MY EXPERIENCE (aka anecdotal), the government branches f**k up far too often for my taste.
