for further evidence of lack of direct debit, see venmo. the whole business monel is literally a direct debit service. lol, here, if i want to send money to a friend i just get their account and sort code which is right on their debt card and send it, or vis versa. no need for a third party service like venmo.
banks are f**k awful at retail banking man, they honestly do try to f**k you at every turn. You should see money money between countries and currencies, banks will take you for a 3% cut above currency services like xe or transferwise. the whole thing is a scam and retail banking is a necessary annoyance to most of these huge institutions that focus their effort and make most of their money on way more complex financial services that individual consumers rarely use. But for basic shit like managing your personal finances, they are f**k awful. even their online platforms are shit. why do i track all my accounts in mint? Why does no bank provide the same service. why does mint need my bank logins, why isn't there an api where banks export info like transaction history without giving full access to the account. the whole thing is a scam man they do a really shitty job and the product is just half assed and a minefield of traps designed to fleece you.
DON'T BE A TOUGH GUY. DON'T BE A FOOL! I WILL CALL YOU LATER.
