Jimmyz has been a degenerate drinker his whole life. Now he needs a liver transplant. But he's already like a million years old, and let's face it, if we give him a new liver he's still gonna be back in a couple weeks needing a new heart or something, so it makes more sense to give it to a young'n who has a long life still ahead. Jimmy doesn't resent it. The birth of his Mexican grandson has made him more concerned with the future than his present. The single payer system covers hospice care for jimmy in his final days.

Here is the trouble that will always be with single payer in the United States.

To pay for all health care, you have to put on limits.
Those limits will leave some people to die.
To keep the system from splitting into to levels of care, you have to prohibit those with money from getting special care.
That will be seen as a death panel. You cannot have care and even though you can afford it, you will not have care. The state deems you must die for the greater good.
