Trump is the direct result of a party that has been dealing without substance for more than a decade now at least and focused solely on warging war against "the left" and emotional hot-button issues.

Trump is the ultimate product from years of rage pimping by outlets like FOX and talk radio, as was the "tea party." The tea party was the tipping point, where governing no longer mattered but what did matter is hysterical conspiracy theories, unchecked hatred of "the left," obstructionism bordering on nihlism and barely concealed racism cloaked as "birtherism."

And we thought the GOP clown car was bad last time around--compared to these fools Romney looks like Winston Churchill. What Trump embodies which the right-wing media has sold for years is not being for something but being against an endless list of things. Liberals, Muslims, blacks, Mexicans, "feminism", Obamacare, doing something about climate change, not carpet-bombing anywhere we think ISIS might be.

He packages it all in a WWE-style/Morton Downey Jr. carnival act and serves it up to his drooling audiences, who want to rage and rage and blame anyone but themselves for why this country isn't as great as they allegedly remember it to be, before you had blacks voting and homos and illegals and those f***ing terrorist Muslims.

The GOP was over when they decided upon Obama's election that their only mission was to thwart him at every turn, regardless of the consequences for the country. Sure they've been the party of plutocracy forever now, but the Dems have become that too (save for Sanders)--but here we see a mob of people egged on by their echo chamber media to rather have the country burn than a black Democrat running it, and now even that's not enough, because they want to elect this clown because they're rather put a novice with no ideas and no experience in the White House to show those "career politicians."

The great irony of all this is that electing the people they want are exactly why this country continues to decline. So easily are they swayed by demagogues and obvious con artists who simply have to play to their hatreds and fears that they elect people (like Ted Cruz) who couldn't run a hamburger stand yet here he is in the running for the highest office in the country.

But let's not leave out the MSM and their complete collapse over the past decades where they refuse to expose people like this but merely act as a vehicle for whatever the candidate's talking points are. Trump has told so many verified lies at this point in another country he'd be forced out in disgrace but here they're ignored and it's on to the next one. Then again, Trump is great for ratings so we can't have him not coming on the show by offending him if we ask a tough question and then follow up on it or nail him for a lie.

Bottom line is when you've been inciting people for years about how their country is allegedly being stolen from them by __________, now their rage has become so irrational they literally are setting everything on fire and are burning down the GOP in the process.

When was the last time you heard any of these guys have an adult discussion about policies? Actual ideas for governing. At this point the "debates" are WWE-style insult fests (can "Yo mama!" jokes be far behind) and last I heard Trump was pretending to not know who David Duke is while Rubio has turned his rallies into b-league comedy shows where he talks about how Trump has a small dick and also wet his pants at the debate.

What's going to be really, really interesting is if Trump somehow breaks from the GOP and runs as an indy, which will literally hand the election to Dems. Like his voters, I could see him doing something like that motivated solely by spite.
