OK, let's pretend that everyone here agrees with the following:
- the guy was a psychopathic slave owner
- in principle, we should not elevate such people to any higher status
- we need to recognize the past, yet not glorify it
I think we can all agree on that. But, again, where do we stop? I could very well argue that ANY slave owner was psychopathic (by today's standards). Do we remove Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson from all school names, cities, roads, etc.?
