Its easy for those of us with the luxury of a career and sufficient income to say that education is its own reward. Try telling that to someone who is six figures in debt from school and working retail for minimum wage.

And you know that has little to do with what degree they got--that could just as true right now for law grads than English majors. That problem transcends what degree you received.
