My MacBook Air has served me extremely well. It's beyond versatile, runs perfect after two years, and for his purposes sounds optimal. He's not looking to upgrade or do anything too demanding.

That hasn't been my experience with laptops. Those f**k get expensive when you ask for a fast processor, an acceptable amount of memory, and an SSD drive worth its due.

there are a lot of intel CPUs with low clockrates that still perform well. especially if you aren't doing anything processor dependent.
