Am I the only one that doesn't see that any kinds of barriers were "broken"? Sure, he was the first AA elected as President. I guess that's a symbolic barrier.
But, are blacks being treated more fairly now? Are they being targeted less? Has even a single person said, "Whoa, wait - they can be President?!! Well, I guess I better start actually reading their resumes, then!"
I dunno - it's great, but in the whole scheme of things, it's one of the smaller pieces in a very large puzzle.
Or, put another way - let's say Hillary is elected. People will say, "the glass ceiling is broken!" But, will it be, really? Will 50% of America's upper executives, Board members, etc. suddenly be female? Will they all be paid equally in 6 months?
