the ar-15 and it's variants are assault rifles though. armalite designed it for the military, it fires nato 5.56, has a standard 30 round magazine. it's an m16 that can't do burst fire or full auto which doesn't even matter because no soldier in his right god damn mind fires using burst or full auto.

it's like saying a tank isn't a tank because it doesn't have tracks but has every other component or something like that.

If you believe that no one should have guns, that the 2nd Amendment is not or should not be an individual right, that's one thing. If you believe in making an Orwellian secret list of "potential terrorists" without defining what even gets people put on that list, and then begin treating them like second class citizens, no freedom loving American should support that.
