Gary Johnson being in the debates would only effect how many votes he gets this election. Long term there are cracks in the two party facade, but that is happening independent of whether or not Johnson gets into the debates. And at this point, it's a double edged sword for the GOP as to denying Trump the nomination or allowing him in. Either way, the GOP is so fractured that Clinton maintains the big advantage for this year.

I was thinking of polls/support and typed voting. Some polls have him at like 13%, and the major news orgs say he needs to be at %15.

Yeah the polling could get him in. I still don't think he really threatens the two party system as much as Trump himself does. Johnson is more of a blueprint for the general direction the GOP has to go in to remain relevant as the boomers start dying off. He's not a game changer long term. But Trump and Sanders represent rising demand for things that neither party wants anything to do with.
