She wanted thr quick and easy publicity without the expense of an involved trial. When it became clear that wasn't an option she quit.

Yeah I follow. I think her intent was probably always to settle is what I'm saying. Quick and cheap publicity.
A full murder trial is incredibly expensive and time consuming and she would have to assume she would lose. I don't think she ever intended for go to trial. Losing is bad publicity obviously and on the facts presented no lawyer - no matter how arrogant lol - would think they have a chance at acquittal.
