I'm pleasantly surprised that everything this year went along smoothly, minus the water turning green and Lochte lying about being robbed but leaving his teammates in the dust.

It was a case of Lost in Translation that Lochte, then, embellished. They paid $50 to avoid the police being called. No gun was ever put to his head.
If he had kept his douche mouth shut, none of this would have blown up. It was done the moment they left, yet Mr. wannabe reality star, and general complete dumbass Lochte, had to do some self-aggrandizing the next day that put Officials in Rio in a situation of trying to save face. Lochte made a thing of nothing and its exploded in his face. He's never come across as the sharpest pencil in the set, but his stupidity is really impressive.
