Honestly, I'll be seriously impressed if Trump even breaks 200 electoral votes at this point. I guess he could kill it at the next debate? In some actually substantive way? If he just does more insults, generalities, interruptions, and zingers, he impresses nobody but his bizarre cult of personality. But seriously...where does he make it up this late in the game? He had a little spurt there at one point and pulled ahead for a week or so...but has otherwise been continuously getting spanked by a frail old lady with decades of Beltway stank cascading down over her cellulite. It was pointed out at the start that he was hosed demographically...and here we are watching him get crushed in all measures but uneducated white males.
What's actually most depressing is that his floor is this high. I mean, sure, we're highly partisan...but the message I'm getting is that he could probably just walk up to Clinton and backhand her across the face, grab her crotch, and order her to get back in the f**k kitchen and make me a goddamn sammich right the hell now, bitch!...and they'd still vote for him. The hardcore republican base simply does not care what he does. Either that or they've allowed themselves to be convinced that in fact its all lies and the famously womanizing NYC billionaire egomaniac who trades in trophy wives while feeling up his own daughters is actually a good old fashioned country boy who's been at a flyover state Assembly of God church praying this whole time between trips to western wear stores and Chick-fil-A.
The blame lies on politics so over the top partisan that there are no limits on what we'll tolerate.
At this point its over, and the whole game is to simply not be humiliated at the polls to such a degree he loses any credibility beyond being an object of mirth. "Look at crazy Donald Trump, still pathetically obsessing over the election he lost in a landslide 2 years later..." I mean, why the hell not stick in the race, right? After the first debate, he was crashing anyways because of his own shitty performance...and now he gets to blame his loss on the GOP betraying him over politically correct nonsense. He can lose, now, without damaging his self image. He doesn't even need it to be "rigged" anymore. The narrative can be that GOP leadership lost if for him.
So, Trump gets to stay a winner by losing. He never thought he'd make it past a speech at the convention, anyways.
