The formatting shortcuts such as bold, italic and underline , as well as the quote feature is not available in the 'Political " or "general discussion " sections

They should be available once you've posted a few more times. IIRC they're disabled for new members to cut back on things that shouldn't be posted.

But I have already posted a bunch of times in other areas and they were available from the beginning
