Kelly had to be convinced to take the position - he never wanted it. It took them weeks to get him to consider - and I'm guessing some old GOP order (McConnell) wanted him in too - I don't know if they still think they can control Trump or use him as a vessel to pass their legislation. That hope seems to be fading rapidly.

well i can see it all being an attempt at distraction, but he can't keep that shit up when everyone bails on him for doing it
it's so amazing all he had to say was "nazis are bad. i don't want their support. no questions. you're fake news.". instead we are watching the him eject everyone around him so fast because of his own actions, he'll have nothing to protect him when the hammer actually does fall
