at sea demonstration of laser capabilities will be next year on some ships, if they don't run into merchant vessels before then
at scale it should be able to destroy a target for 59 cents per shot (energy cost). at that level we would be able to shoot down artillery fire, if we had enough power and enough freaking lasers. it just goes to show how far behind we are in the tech game though, because our enemies are reaching our current capabilities much faster than we are able to get ahead of them
