trump's got a chance but he's nearing abdication of duty on puerto rico if this continues

in regards to the Jones Act, McCain has tried in the past to nullify it as well. basically anyone not on the mainland (this means territories, Hawaii, and Alaska) get a really bad deal all the time. if you look at shipping routes they are kinda bizarre for the same reason. foreign-flagged ships can't stop in an american port and then stop in another american port, basically, so US-flagged ships can take supplies from mainland US to those territories. and those US-flagged ships must be built in the US, owned by US citizens, and crewed by US citizens. it's protectionist nonsense so it's just the kind of thing Trump loves

Even if the real issue is logistics, why not suspend the Jones Act during this crisis anyway? Why not do anything that could possibly help, even if there are other issues?
