i don't know how the sale price of a painting is a display of greed. opulence, yes, but a sign of greed? excessive greed s self centered and without limits, and does not empathize with others. it acts in a cold reasonable way about how to maximize everything for yourself. greed on display would be EA games putting microtransactions into a game you also buy. greed on display would be facebook not caring that russians helped sway an election in their echo chamber because they got paid. greed on display would be any one of Apple's annual events. but buying a painting? i don't think that's really greedy. i think that's f**k dumb.
