Canada still looks better than us. They have practical/strategic reasons for doing so - what did we gain by doing this? International condemnation from 128 countries including the UK, Germany, France, and Japan...and further international marginalization re the degree to which diplomatic ties towards the US under Trump are taken seriously.

Reeks of Coolidge's/Hoover's reluctance to engage the League of Nations but worse. Instead of openly refusing to join the assembly we're here trying to blow it all up from the inside. Trump's looking to see what action can be taken against the nations that voted against the US. Yeah? All 128 of them?

all that they are doing is proving the worthlessness of the organization. the perpetual whipping boy Israel gets shit on and nothing happens anyway because the status quo is what it is. i'm not saying that moving the embassy was a shrewd idea -- it's best not to awake rabid animals who blow themselves up when they feel they are threatened from their ultimate goal of killing all the jews -- but this doesn't mean that the UN vote is helpful either

this happens while the UN impotently tries to send observers to Myanmar and fails, while we all know it's the worst refugee crisis since WWII
