eh? We've been attempting sway with both parties forever. India has been more amicable with us and I think that relationship continues to grow because they know they'd need help against Chinese aggression.
But abandoning Pakistan is a huge mistake because the chinese are already making huge inroad via soft power already outlined. Chinese sway over pakistan gives India one more thing to be concerned about.

i'd take india and iran as allies (rather than a sphered nation) over anything to do with pakistan any day. china and india are on long term collision course, as are we and china. our interests along with india have converged in many ways, mostly because of china
