it's 43 degrees at the closest weather monitoring station to the north pole, the warmest ever measurement in the winter since 1958 when the station was installed. it's still under perpetual night and it is starting to thaw. this is 45 degrees warmer than normal. arctic sea ice is at the lowest extent on record, in fact, on Feb 20 the ice was half that of the previous record. it's too late for mitigation, we need to clean up the mess we created with carbon sequesteration and we need to do it within the next few decades
