Bush is not in any sense "light years worse." Trump isn't even through half of one term and he's already even managed to dismantle one of the few decent policies that Bush implemented, MAVNI. So far Trump hasn't yet managed to touch the level of catastrophic global war the Bush administration initiated. One may only hope that the Trump administration, stock full of war mongering lunatics as it is, isn't allowed to do so, but all of the indications do not bode well for the future.

I was speaking more directly to the global financial economy. Here again, the Trump administration hasn't yet ushered into the system a crisis like that of 2007-8, but again, it's not even been half of one term. The economic, financial policies the Trump administration is orchestrating are most certainly laying the groundwork for global financial crises that will make the 2007-8 global financial crisis appear but a preliminary.

Too early to say which is worse.

Bush was more destructive externally, in terms of warfare, lives lost, an entire region destabilized (which isn't actually a "catastrophic worldwide war", Hurf. We've had a couple of those before. We know what that looks like.), etc etc...

But trump is more destructive domestically. He's the most intentionally divisive figure in living memory, he's flatly destroying our diplomacy and our alliances, f**k up trade in completely ridiculous ways, attacking our basic institutions, and even the constitutionally protected free press...which is to me the worst of it all. He is using straight up divide and conquer on what is ostensibly his own country. trump has destroyed the standing of the US on the world stage in ways that even Bush couldn't manage, and he's done it in a very short time.

Bush was a f**k joke. An embarrassing, bumbling, mess. But trump is a goddamn national humiliation. A f**k assault on our core values and national character.

On top of all this he's got 6 more years to get that body count piling up. We'll see.

Agreed, that is a very practical and reasonable assessment of what can realistically be accomplished during the meeting. Would also make Trump feel good, since he got extra special care.
