Fear is what spread through the Democratic party like the plague after 2016. Since I am an independent in the political arena, my advice to Dems is have a plan that goes beyond just hating Trump.

there's the use of the word "lodestar" to describe McCain. internet sleuths have already found that Pence has previously used the term (to describe the UN). however, he's the only one who can't actually be fired so i don't think it's him; the NYT would then be lying about the reasons for anonymity. this was just trying to throw us off the trail
i would be terrified they could analyze writing and compare to the op ed and determine who i was and couldn't do it
in any event it's groundwork for a 25th amendment replacement if anything

How do we view the person that penned this? Coward for hiding their name? Or hero for staying in and fighting the fight thus preventing something worse from taking his or her spot?
It's hard for me to avoid the "coward" charge for the simple fact of the matter that seemingly every honorable person that could've done something about some policy blunder in administrations past didn't....they just retired and wrote a book.
People need to f**k act if it's truly this bad. But they don't. And so I have a harder time accepting their words at face value and question the motive altogether.

It is a rather obvious ploy to distance themselves from Trump, in the hopes of preserving whatever they can after the mid-terms and 2020. These people are actually as bad or worse than Trump.
Who I'm guessing it isn't: any of the Generals.
Based on the grammar, embellishments and tone, I'd wager it was a woman. But that is 100% gut feeling.
