trump never paid anything more than lipservice to reducing debt. look, just declare bankruptcy, it's fine, trump did it all the time and look what it's got him? he's the president of the united states!

there needs to be laws about new spending being passed with new commensurate taxes/spending cuts elsewhere that should cover the new spending, and new tax cuts being tied to commensurate spending cuts/new taxes elsewhere, with specific rules about how to get around them, not jsut saying that canada is a security threat ergo we are passing tax cuts with no commensurate spending offset

Too strict. Would hinder government action in the face of financial crises/stimulative measures funded primarily by deficits. I by no means think the deficit we've incurred is great but it's not the end of the world either. It's just exorbitantly sad that most of this will be driven not by investments in infrastructure with long term returns in mind but by...tax cuts.

That is by far the saddest part of all of this.
